Iquitos is the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon and the capital of the Loreto department. Located at the confluence of the Amazon, Nanay, and Itaya rivers, this vibrant city is known for its exotic character and its connection to the dense Amazon rainforest. Iquitos is a common starting point for exploring the unique biodiversity of the region and offers an authentic experience of jungle life, with colorful markets, historic architecture, and a lively cultural scene. The Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is a vast conservation area in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. Known as the “Jungle of Mirrors” due to its waters that reflect the sky and vegetation, the reserve is home to an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. With rivers, lakes, and flooded forests, it is home to iconic species such as pink dolphins, jaguars, anacondas, and a variety of exotic birds. It offers visitors the opportunity to explore the jungle sustainably, with guided excursions to appreciate the natural beauty and rich culture of local communities.

We will start our adventure through the Peruvian jungle at the airport in the city of Iquitos, then we will transfer to the town of Nauta, the first town founded by the Spaniards on the banks of the Marañón River; the journey lasts approximately 1.30 h. with a distance of 97 km. In Nauta, we will transfer to the pier to continue the journey to the Lodge, along the way we will visit the Casual Fund (flood season) where we will search for species of flora and fauna. Upon arrival at the Lodge, a descendant of the Kukama Kukamiria culture will give us a warm welcome and we can also enjoy a seasonal fruit refreshment. Room assignment. Lunch. Talk about myths and legends of the Amazon. Visit to the TSETSU viewpoint. Night excursion through the forest surrounding the Lodge to try to locate frogs, tarantulas, insects, and other species that are nocturnal. Overnight stay. Lunch – dinner.


After breakfast. Interpretation walk of flora and fauna in the restinga forest surrounding the Lodge. We will depart towards the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Nauta Caño area where we will register and enter the reserve. During our visit, we will go on an excursion in search of pink and gray dolphins through the stream of the same name, and we will also be in contact with the immense variety of flora and fauna that the reserve offers us. The first thing that will catch our attention is the river waters that reflect the sky, the clouds, the vegetation of the banks, and the large trees with such fidelity that the visitor has the sensation of sailing among endless mirrors, which is why Pacaya Samiria is also known as “The Jungle of Mirrors”. We will also take an interpretive walk in flooded forests, where we will try to see some primates and sloths, during the trip we will identify a variety of birds and practice artisanal fishing with the material used by the Amazonian man for subsistence purposes. Dinner. Overnight stay. Breakfast – lunch – dinner.


After breakfast, we will head to the 20 de Enero RNPS community to appreciate the different work carried out by local residents organized as natural resource management groups to preserve the species of the RN, there will be activities such as climbing aguaje, canoeing, and artisanal fishing. We will continue the journey to the Renacal Area to set up the tents (lunch on board or camp), there we will organize ourselves for exploratory outings in the area according to the interests of the expedition members. After dinner, we will go out by boat to observe nocturnal fauna. Overnight in camp. Breakfast – lunch – dinner.


Breakfast at the camp. We will take a walk in search of more animals or perhaps we prefer to cool off in the waters of the Yanayacu. We prepare and dismantle the camp to prepare for our return to the Lodge. Lunch at the camp or on board according to the times managed by our specialist guide. During the journey, we can enjoy the surrounding landscape and we may be surprised by some wildlife that we could not appreciate on our inbound journey, as in the jungle nothing is predictable. Overnight stay. Breakfast – lunch – dinner.


After breakfast. Boat excursion on the Marañón River towards Cocha Shiriyacu or the same river (depending on the season and suitable conditions for fishing). Artisanal fishing, using techniques of the riverside man such as subsistence fishing, rod, and trap. We will

visit the San Jorge community and the Women Artisans Center (Pua Kamatawara), known for their work in natural fiber (Chambira) and carving in wingo or calabash. Return to the Lodge. Free time and personal hygiene to return to the airport or hotel in the city of Iquitos. Breakfast – lunch. Note – For the last day, lunch is included depending on the flight schedule. If not taken, there will be no discount or refund. This program may include a camping night. If you do not wish to camp, you can stay at the Lodge every night. The program may vary according to weather conditions and according to the season (low and high water levels of the Amazon rivers).
